Since I have writers block as to what my first post should be, I thought a good old newbie tag would be a good start. I found this tag on Read with Kim’s blog and tagged myself.
Why did you start this blog?
A few months ago I started a booktube account, however, I’ve been having trouble with the editing side to it. I’ve taken a break from this because of the stress it was causing me, but I really want to continue to talk about books and express my opinions. Today I was at YALC listening to the YA Shot v/blogger panel an got inspired to start this blog.
Fun/Unique things you can bring to book blogging?
I hate questions like this because I have no idea what to say. I read a wide range of books so hopefully people will find something they like. Other than that, I think I might also review different films and theatre that I see, which will most likely consist of me fan girling over costumes.
What are you most excited about this new blog?
The community and been able to talk to people who are interested in the same thing as me, and don’t get bored of me talking about books, lol.
Why do you love reading?
There are so many things I could answer to this. The escape to another world. The characters who feel not only like friends, but like family. And been able to work through feelings that at the time I might not even know I have.
What book or series got you into reading?
So this is something that I will talk about alot, possibly more than’s good for me, but it has to be the one and only… Harry Potter by J.K Rowling. This book not only describes my childhood, but also my life hahaha. I always loved the films, and then when I was about 10/11 I finally read the books. I’d read plenty of other books by this point but after reading Harry Potter, I fell in love all over again.
What questions would you ask your favourite authors?
Again there are so many things I’d want to know, but I think if I had to pick I’d have to ask about the research they do behind the plots or worlds. I have this weird fascination with research and going ‘down the rabbit hole’ with random facts.
Books blog challenges that are hardest to overcome.
Probably coming up with original ideas to post. Plus actually getting through the books I want to read as I seem to have little to no time for anything other than uni so hopefully this will motivate me.
When did you start reading?
I can’t remember really. I’ve always been reading since I can remember, with the little mobile library that used to stop where I lived, to secondary school and trying different genres. However, like I said my reading has gone so downhill since starting uni in September, I’ve gone from reading a book a day to maybe 2/3 a month.
Where do you read?
Anywhere and everywhere. Personally I prefer reading physical books, but its not always possible when I’m on the move so I read alot of ebooks and audiobooks too.
What kind of books do you like to read?
I have a very varied taste in books, which mostly depends on my mood at the time or even what I’m watching because if I find something I love on TV I’m always looking for similar books. I’d say my top three genres to read are; fantasy, contemporary and historical.
So that’s my newbie tag. I hope you enjoyed the read and want to follow me/help me on this blogging journey. Also if you have any book recommendations please leave them in the comments because I would love to hear them.
